Our classes incorporate various elements to teach essential skills and improve fitness, but martial arts is about more than just physical training. We want to create well-rounded students, so we challenge them in class to help develop their character.

Read on to find out the elements of our training and what our students can gain from them:

Basics:

Practising the basics is essential, and as students progress, mastering basics facilitates their success in more advanced techniques.

We practice kicks, punches, blocks, and footwork separately to refine and perfect each movement. This fundamental training is crucial for developing muscle memory, and all students, regardless of rank, still spend time improving their basics.

Poomsae:

A core component of training is the traditional patterns or Poomsae. These choreographed sequences enhance coordination, balance and demand complete focus.

Poomsae is a moving meditation that allows students to achieve heightened concentration and mindfulness. Through consistent practice, individuals learn to move purposefully, connecting their minds and body in unison.

Sparring:

Sparring involves students engaging in combat with one another and is often the most exciting or scariest part of training.

Our students do full-contact sparring, but we ensure safety by providing students with protective equipment. Statistically, Taekwondo remains safer than many non-contact sports.

Sparring enhances physical fitness and enables students to apply the techniques they have learned in a dynamic and practical setting. It challenges their adaptability, strategy, and quick decision-making.

Breaking

Breaking timber boards helps condition the body and requires not just raw strength but also focus, accuracy, and self-belief.

Nothing builds confidence quicker than smashing through a board. Students become aware of their capabilities and learn that perseverance and dedication produce tangible results.

Self Defence:

We understand the importance of equipping our students with practical self-defence skills to keep themselves safe in real-life situations.

Our bespoke self-defence syllabus incorporates standing grappling and striking techniques. Students learn how to defend themselves effectively, as well as how to seek help and safely escape from threatening scenarios. These self-defence techniques complement the traditional Taekwondo skills promoting a sense of empowerment and security.

Games:

Incorporating games into our classes provides fun and excitement while simultaneously developing essential physical skills that are hard to train with other drills. Due to their unpredictable nature, they enhance speed, agility and balance.

Stretching:

The stretching in our classes assists our students to develop healthy and supple bodies. Flexibility is crucial for executing various Taekwondo techniques effectively. Stretching also helps prevent injuries by promoting muscle elasticity and challenges student’s self-control by making them stay in uncomfortable positions.

Conclusion,

Our martial arts classes in Beerwah & Maleny offer a comprehensive and engaging training experience. The various elements help our students become healthy, athletic, disciplined and confident.
